Intercept Surveys - Data Collection

Intercept surveys are surveys that are conducted in-person, generally in a public place or business. For instance, interviewers might approach patrons leaving a restaurant and ask to interview them about their experiences. Interviewers might ask the questions or simply explain the project and give the questionnaire to the respondent to fill out. The surveys might be completed on paper, on a tablet (iPod, Android, etc), or on a laptop.

Robinson Research has been conducting intercept surveys since 1979. We are centrally located in Spokane, Washington. We regularly conduct intercept interviews throughout Eastern Washington (Pasco, Richland, Kennewick, Yakima, Wenatchee, and Chelan), North Idaho (Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint), and Montana (Missoula, Billings, and Great Falls).

We use trained interviewers from our call center for intercept projects. Our interviewers are well versed in market research principles, not someone hired on Craigslist and only given a ten minute explanation about market research in general and the project in particular.

We have conducted intercept surveys at every major mall in Spokane, Coeur d'Alene and the Tri-Cities (Kennewick, Pasco, and Richalnd), on Spokane Transit Authority buses, at restaurants, grocery stores, house-to-house, big box retailers, fast food establishments, casinos, health care facilities, clothing stores, colleges, banks, and ski resorts.

Robinson Research also regularly conducts in-store audits of advertising placements for our clients. In such a case, a marketer may have concerns regarding whether or not their advertisements and marketing materials are being properly displayed. Robinson Research will send out a trained interviewer to surreptitiously audit the store and report back to the client.
